Co-op Overview

Co-operative Education, or Co-op, is a balanced approach to skills training that provides students with paid, relevant work experience in their chosen field together with classroom learning.

Our instructors assist students in seeking work placements with local hospitality and tourism related businesses, government and non-profit organizations. Through a traditional application, interview and “hiring” process, students are matched with the selected employers.

Students will be required to complete an equal number of co-op hours to the number of hours included in their chosen program of study. The hands-on paid work experience training will be done in hospitality or tourism related environments. To qualify for internship, students are required to maintain a grade of 70% or higher and a minimum attendance of 90%.

The student will be evaluated at the host company and results are recorded on their transcript. Although every effort is made to arrange placements, the College cannot guarantee that a student will be selected for a placement.
