Flight Attendant Pre-Employment
I’ve recently been hired by Air Transat, my perseverance definitely paid off. I took the Flight Attendant Pre-Employment diploma and it really gave me the confidence I needed in my interview. The staff at Air Transat were so pleased with my knowledge “whoever you’re teachers were, did an amazing job at giving you a clear outline about what the industry is about” ~ Air Transat Interviewer.
Without the Canadian Tourism College I wouldn’t be where I am today, not to mention how inspiring all the staff is!

Life is a journey, not a destination. So true the experience of travelling, and of studying at CTC. By necessity, establishing a good foundation in tourism and hospitality is a daunting task, whether to teach it or to learn it. Such is the respect I have for my instructors and the experience I share with my classmates as I journey through CTC.
Every person is unique. At CTC, I learned to treasure when others differed. There were occasions, in class or on field trips, when we were not exactly in our comfort zones - an excellent opportunity for us to search inward and reach outward, and grow! This awareness is a crucial communication link in building rapport, with our colleagues, clients and loved ones.
There is nothing worse than fear but fear itself. Typical at CTC are very short learning modules, when examinations and projects are due. It somewhat simulates reality when sales have to be closed, paperwork have to be finalised, trade-shows have to be attended, presentations have to be prepared - sometimes simultaneously. Really, when this happens, there is no time to fear, except to take the bull by the horn, and act immediately! But then also, there is that great necessity to maintain that inner calm and sanity, or face the consequence of total burn-out.
I have this huge wall-poster in my tiny living quarter, perhaps some of you have seen before, titled "Destiny" - a lonely Thai wooden boat lying on a white sandy-beach, a huge karst island protruding skyward in the ocean behind, somewhere in Krabe (Thailand), a place I would love to cruise in the near future. The caption states: “The choice we make, not the chances we take, determine our destiny.” I will remember that simple statement as I journey on, building upon the knowledge and friendship I've earned at CTC.

Hello Everyone at CTC,
I'm currently working at the Blackfoot Inn in Calgary; it’s been just over a year now. For the first 10 months I worked a variety of days and evenings as a GSA at the front desk and things went really well. I learned an enormous amount very quickly; a busy 200 person hotel will do that to you. I made great progression and became respected by my superiors, and just recently finished my training as a Duty Manager. I've also gone on to work as a Night Auditor full time and am definitely very happy with where I am at right now, much thanks to you all.
Sincerely,

I attended CTC for the Hospitality/Cruise Diploma Program. Whatever I have learned during the program I have been able to apply to my previous and current work. One thing I enjoyed and appreciated a lot was having instructors who created a less stressful and fun environment to work in. They offered all of their time to us to help with our education and went beyond the call of duty many times. They created a comfortable and personable learning environment which allowed us to better ourselves and give more each day! So thank you to all CTC personnel, I had a great time attending and enjoyed every minute!

My experience at CTC is like no other. Not only did I get a lot of knowledge on the industry through books and staffs' real life experiences; I grew and matured as a person.
I began my training in the Hospitality and Resort Management program where I didn't really know what I was getting into. When I realized that this course was not for me I was promptly swapped into the Hospitality Cruise program where I was able to work to my full potential. It was amazing to see how all the staff supported me and helped me with my struggles. It's to them that I say, "Thank you". For without my new knowledge of the industry and the help of the staff when I was in trouble I would not be going to experience the industry in different countries.
I would recommend CTCollege to anyone that is looking for a way to gain knowledge and find a job that they will love.
Kind regards,

CTC was an awesome start into the travel industry! I was able begin my path to earn my Certified Travel and Elite Cruise Counselor. I have become a travel consultant, visited some wonderful places like China, worked on a Christmas Markets river cruise in Europe, been employed at inclusive resorts in the Caribbean, and sailed on the Queen Mary 2.
CTC gave me a good overview of the various segments of the travel industry and through my desire for professional development I have now advanced to Office Manager.

When I told my friends and family that I was going to take a course in Adventure Tourism, the most common response was "There's a course in that? Sounds more like fun than school!" While in many ways they were right (I did have a lot of fun!), I found that I learned so much in the fields of leadership, first aid, group dynamics, decision making, backcountry skiing, river rafting, ocean kayaking and hiking.
The Adventure Tourism Diploma at CTCollege gave me all the skills I needed to work in the field of ecotourism. The Instructors were all experts in their fields and each section of the course was taught with an emphasis on real world application of the skills learned.
Since graduatiion, I have become an ocean kayaking guide in Tofino, BC. My workplace is the beautiful surroundings of Clayoquot Sound and each day I have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and share with them the scenery of BC's West Coast.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Adventure Tourism program at CTCollege for anyone who has a thirst for adventure and a love of the outdoors.

CTC prepared me for much more than I could have ever imagined. I knew I loved to travel, I gained a solid knowledge of the tourism industry and I finished school with countless opportunities for work.
The instructors were excellent, so enthusiastic and helpful.
Right after graduation, I started work in a travel agency and after gaining a lot experience in the Cruise Industry, I decided I wanted a change. I immediately gained employment as a Sales Representative and Tour Guide. The education I received from CTC allowed me to enter into a new position with confidence and ease, and now I love my job!
I have been able to travel all over Western Canada, sharing my love of travel with many others as a tour guide and sales representative. Attending CTC was one of the best decisions of my life, because I now get to travel and get paid for it! What more could a self-confessed travel addict want?

Fatima Sena
My name is Fatima Sena and I am a former student from Canadian Tourism College.
I attended the Travel and Tourism Advance Diploma Program back in July 1998 to March /April 1999.
After graduating I also took the Group Travel course. Both programs have helped me a lot. Including my language skills, now I am able to work as a free lance Tour Director and Tour Guide, providing tours to Portuguese, Spanish and English speaking visitors and tourists. I do local tours in Vancouver and the North Shore, day tours in Victoria and Whistler and long hauls to the Canadian Rockies.
I simply love my job. Dealing with people, touring and traveling with the passengers is really fun. Of course, like any other job, I need to be organised, responsible, flexible and dependable. Also, dealing with passengers requires some psychology, tact, a good sense of humour, patience, punctuality, problem solving skills and some planning.
Canadian Tourism College has surely contributed for my confidence and successful career.

Life Before CTC:
Hello, my name is Andrea. After graduating from high school I had no
idea what to do. All my friends had plans to go to college, but I had
no intentions of going back to school....to be honest I was quite glad
to be finished! But, thinking that it was the right thing to do, I
enrolled in a hair dressing course and hated it. I needed to make money
in a hurry and started my first serving job and 7 years later, I was
still serving and bartending. I always felt like I was missing
something. I was tired of the 'bar scene' and I knew I needed a
change...that's when I found CTC.
I enrolled in the Hospitality and Cruise Diploma course in the summer of 2007, and I've never been so nervous in my life! My last attempt at going back to school had failed, was I really ready for this? My first day was a bit nerve racking, but after meeting Dolores (my instructor) and going over the material to be covered in the course, I was so excited! I couldn't wait to get started!
Life At CTC:
I would recommend CTC to anyone looking to pursue a career in the
Travel and Tourism Industry. Because it is a private college, the
course material is 'fine tuned' to get right to the point. You learn
what you need to know, everything is very hands on, the instructors are
very supportive and encouraging and the class sizes aren't huge.
Because of CTC's relationship with many hotel properties all over Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, there are many opportunities to go on 'field trips' to apply what you've learned in class in the actual work force. Fun fun fun!
Life After CTC:
Life after CTC has been amazing! I graduated in February of 2007 and by
January of 2008 I was on my way to Bristol, England to work and live
for a year at the Aztec Hotel and Spa. I am a full time front desk
receptionist at The Aztec, and the training I have received here has
been invaluable. This once in a life time opportunity will open so many
doors for me when I come back home. I have met and made so many friends
here as well. They are my 'family' and have done an amazing job from
the first day I arrived to make me feel at home. The life experience
I've gained from living here will benefit me in everything I do. I have
had many opportunities to see so many beautiful places, and I currently
have plans to spend my 25th birthday in Paris! How amazing is that? All
of my friends back home are so jealous!
To sum it all up, enrolling in CTC was the best decision I've ever made. They opened up the door for me to finally find, not my dream job, but my 'dream CAREER'. CTC has truly changed my life. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner...
Best of luck to everyone who is ready to dive into a fast paced and truly gratifying industry. CTC will provide you with the hands on training you need in order to build your confidence and help you find the career or YOUR dreams...
Kind Regards,
Andrea Sinclaire

On entering the Hospitality and Resort Management Diploma program I was unsure of where I saw myself ending up. This course helped me discover the path that I am now on.
Before CTC I was in the Business Diploma program at Kwantlen College. After two semesters I discovered that it was not the right choice. What attracted me to CTC were the smaller class sizes, more one-on-one teaching and the opportunities after graduation.
All of the staff are knowledgeable about the industry, all having worked in the industy, and are able to bring real experience into the classroom. My professor, David Butterton, made the course more interesting and relevant by relating the modules to real industry experiences. We went on work experience field trips to explore the different departments of hotels and resorts. This hands on learning made the material we were studying an actuality rather than just theory.
During the program I decided to enroll into the International Work Abroad program, which I highly recommend. I am now working for a 4 star hotel chain in the UK. Completing this program gave me the opportunity to travel and gain international experience in the hospitality industry. Without CTC I would never have imagined being where I am today.
Thanks for everything,
Stephanie Johnson
